Processed sewerage or the like is stored in underground snow-melting tanks. Snow hauled from roadside is carried to the tanks to be melted by residual heat.

Such snow-melting tanks are used as regulating reservoirs for rainwater or sanitary sewage, and as reservoirs for firefighting water.

Residents dump roadside snow into the closed conduit, which carries the snow into a river.
